NINGBO, Aug. 7 — A 15-member student delegation from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ningbo University has successfully concluded a four-week language and cultural exchange program in Aachen, Germany. The program, which began on July 4, marked the German Department’s first student-led overseas exchange trip without faculty accompaniment.

Demonstrating high levels of self-discipline and organizational skills, the students seamlessly integrated into their studies and daily life at Sprachenakademie Aachen. They actively participated in German language courses and cultural activities, earning high praise from German organizers for their initiative and teamwork.  

On July 14, the delegation was received by Dr. Ralf Otten, Mayor of Aachen, at the city hall. Mayor Otten warmly welcomed the students, highlighting youth as a vital bridge for Sino-German friendship. He encouraged them to gain a deeper understanding of German history and culture through immersive learning and to serve as active ambassadors for bilateral people-to-people ties.

The visit received significant attention from local authorities, with the Aachen city government publishing a feature report on its official website, commending the exchange for its positive impact on local Sino-German cultural cooperation.

The program concluded in early August. Participants noted that the independent overseas experience not only enhanced their German proficiency but also strengthened their self-reliance and teamwork skills, providing valuable preparation for their future academic and professional endeavors.
