Ningbo, China – June 2026 – A delegation from the University of Szczecin, Poland, visited Ningbo University on June 25, 2026, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the bilateral partnership. Led by Dr. Joanna Misiukajtis, Head of the International Relations Office, and Professor Jarosław Korpysa, Dean of the Doctoral School, the visit celebrated past achievements while opening new avenues for deeper academic and research collaboration.

The meeting, hosted by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, brought together senior administrators and faculty from both institutions. Discussions spanned undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and faculty exchange programmes, translating previous talks into concrete action plans.

Broadening Academic Pathways

At the undergraduate level, the two sides agreed to explore a new “English + International Communication” dual-degree track, building on the existing “2+2” joint programme. This new direction aims to equip students with both language proficiency and cross-cultural media skills.

For master’s education, a joint “English + Business Management” dual-degree programme was proposed. Students would complete coursework at both campuses and have the opportunity to undertake internships at European companies, bridging academic training with international professional practice.

Doctoral and faculty collaboration took centre stage as both universities agreed to jointly apply for funding from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) Program. The proposed three‑year project would support joint‑training master’s students, doctoral candidates, and visiting scholars. Key issues discussed included tuition arrangements, supervisor matching, and the timeline for issuing invitation letters—all critical steps toward a formal submission.

Academic Lectures Complement the Dialogue

Following the business meeting, the two visiting scholars delivered well‑received lectures to faculty and students.

Dr. Misiukajtis spoke on International Cooperation in Science, drawing on global research trends to highlight the value of cross‑border knowledge sharing and the importance of building inclusive academic networks.

Professor Korpysa presented Building Social Impact: Social Entrepreneurship from the Perspective of Theory of Change, using case studies to demonstrate how social enterprises create sustainable value in education, environmental protection, and community governance. Both lectures generated lively discussion on topics ranging from cross‑cultural research methods to the localisation of social innovation.

Looking Ahead

The visit marks a significant milestone in a decade‑long friendship and signals a shared commitment to expanding the partnership. The Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ningbo University will continue to drive internationalisation, implementing the newly agreed initiatives and providing broader platforms for academic exchange and talent development.
